Mn Doped in CdS Nanoparticles by Chemical Route

Mn doped Cadmium sulfide (CdS: Mn) nanoparticles were examined using ultraviolet Visible (UV-Vis) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), spectroscopy analysis to understand the effect of Mn doping on structural and Optical properties. Cadmium sulfide (CdS) is an important compound semiconductor material with a direct bandgap structure and a diverse array of uses in optoelectronic devices, photocatalysis, and photovoltaics. Doping the CdS lattice with manganese ions is done with the purpose of modifying its properties and enhancing its suitability for various technological applications. UV-Vis Spectra shows enhanced absorption and shift in the absorption edge compared to pure CdS, demonstrating band gap. Modification due to Mn doping FTIR Spectra confirmed CdS bond formation and showed peak shift attributed to lattice distortion and Mn incorporation. Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy was employed to identify the chemical bonds and functional groups present in the synthesized nanoparticles. The result specifies that Mn doping significantly alters the optical behaviour and structural Characteristic of CdS nanoparticles, making them Suitable for optoelectronic and photocatalytic applications.
