TRIAGE: Trustworthy Retrieval Instrumentation And Graph Evaluation

Axel TahmasebiMoradi, Lucas Schott, Martin Royer

Knowledge graphs (KGs) that underpin Graph-based Retrieval-Augmented Generation (Graph-RAG) are increasingly built automatically by LLM-driven extraction rather than curated by experts. Proper evaluation would require instrumenting all pertinent stages: extraction, graph construction, and inference, coherently enough to localize failures, so that a failure at one stage is not discovered as a wrong answer at the end. We introduce TRIAGE, a stage-aware instrumentation framework for automated, document-grounded graph-RAG that asks not only whether the underlying graph can be trusted but at what cost it can be queried. TRIAGE attaches stage-specific, independently interpretable metrics to three stages: the KG Implementation (triple confidence, source coverage, and schema and canonicalization checks), the KG Validation by expert (graph-level structural quality, with correctness and completeness computed only as offline calibration when a reference is available), and the KG Usage (retrieval coverage, faithfulness, and retrieval cost); the deployed metrics need no gold annotations, the gold-requiring ones serving only as offline calibration. At usage time these metrics form a diagnostic chain of necessary conditions whose first broken link localizes the failure, and the diagnosis maps to the stage levers that can remedy it: extraction, graph and schema, or retrieval. TRIAGE is a theoretical framework with a proof of concept and a reproducible evaluation protocol.

RecHarness: A Bandit-Routed Agentic Harness for Self-Evolving Recommender Systems

Haoran Ling, Yuecheng Li, Zeyu Song, Jing Yao, Shuwen Kang, Chi Lu, et al.

Optimizing modern recommender models still depends heavily on engineers manually iterating over architectural, objective, and training-strategy changes. While LLM-based agents can automate this trial-and-error process, allowing the LLM to both select modification directions and g…

A Comparative Evaluation of Embeddings and LLMs in a Greek Book Publisher Setting - The CUP Dataset

Katerina Papantoniou, Panagiotis Papadakos, Theodore Patkos, Dimitris Garefalakis, Nikos Vardakis, Dimitris Plexousakis

We present CUP, a Greek book retrieval benchmark consisting of 868 catalog records and 104 expert-annotated queries with graded relevance judgments. We evaluate sparse (BM25), dense (sentence-transformers), hybrid, and LLM-assisted retrieval methods in this book-search setting. M…

DBA-Bench: A Production-Fidelity Benchmark for LLM-Based Database Operations Agents

Junming Chen, Junyang Jiang, Xu Chen, Zibo Liang, Kai Zheng

LLM-based database agents show promise, but differing task scopes, testbeds, and metrics hinder comparison. We identify four gaps between evaluation and production operations: live-environment fidelity (multi-turn read-write interaction with a running database); observation-space…

Benchmarking Fine-tuning and Retrieval Strategies for a Multimodal Language Model on the NRC Reactor Operator Licensing Examination

Isak Hwang, Yoon Pyo Lee

The integration of large language models (LLMs) into the nuclear power industry requires outputs grounded in domain-specific knowledge. This study evaluates a 31-billion-parameter open-weight multimodal model (Gemma 4 31B-IT) on its capacity to apply nuclear knowledge by benchmar…

The ability to handle long-term memory in LLMs is becoming increasingly critical, yet existing benchmarks remain English-centric and rely on aggregate retrieval metrics, failing to capture interactions between long-range context, temporal information, and reasoning. To address th…
