Rendering 3D Gaussians on a Graph Processor

Nicholas Fry, Ignacio Alzugaray, Mark Pupilli, Paul H. J. Kelly, Andrew J. Davison

We present the first implementation of a 3D Gaussian renderer on an Intelligence Processing Unit (IPU), comprising 1,472 independent tiles with only on-chip SRAM; constraints that approximate properties of efficient sensor-processor architectures. Our input scenes are 3D Gaussian maps from real-world sequences. Each tile 'owns' a screen-space region of the framebuffer; Gaussian primitives are routed to destination tiles via Manhattan-distance hops on a north-east-west-south (NEWS) grid, then distributed to overlapping neighbours in an expanding tree pattern. Computation follows the IPU's Bulk Synchronous Parallel (BSP) model, with inter-tile communication defined at compile time. We show this hardware allows us to exploit spatial and temporal locality by enabling local data transfer between cores. We evaluate the bottlenecks in this SRAM-only implementation: inter-tile bandwidth, per-tile SRAM capacity, and workload imbalance from non-uniform Gaussian density. We analyse how these constraints affect performance and render quality. This exploration raises broader questions for conventional GPUs and 3D representations, suggesting that direct inter-SM (streaming multiprocessor) communication might offer ways to reduce DRAM access in GPU kernels. We discuss these implications for the future of on-sensor and DRAM-free architectures. Project page: https://nmjfry.github.io/ipu-3dgs/

Deformable Triangle Splatting: Flexible Primitives for Real-Time Radiance Field Rendering

Oriol Jiménez-Ayguadé, Antonio Agudo

Recent radiance field methods represent scenes with 2D primitives that offer surface alignment and efficient rasterization, from Gaussian disks to triangles, yet all rely on convex boundaries: curved and concave structures demand excessive primitives. We introduce Deformable Tria…

Learning-based Seam Correspondence Reconstruction in Sewing Patterns

Zhendong Wang, Jintong Wang, Chen Liu, Yao Jin, Ligang Liu, Huamin Wang

Digital sewing patterns typically consist of disjoint 2D panels without explicit stitch annotations, making downstream 3D modeling reliant on labor-intensive expert specification. In this paper, we present a graph-based learning framework that reconstructs two-level stitching inf…

Look Before You Edit: Attention-Guided Camera Placement and Multi-View Alignment for 3D Gaussian Splatting Editing

Jaeyeon Park, Taeho Kang, Youngki Lee

Text-driven 3D scene editing with 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) typically applies a 2D diffusion editor to views rendered from fixed training cameras, limiting both the spatial coverage of edits and the user's freedom to target specific objects in complex scenes. We present LB-Edi…

ATSplat: Compact Feed-forward 3D Gaussian Splatting with Adaptive Token Expansion

Cho In, Jeonghwan Cho, Mijin Yoo, Gim Hee Lee, Seon Joo Kim

3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) achieves high-quality novel-view synthesis by optimizing freely placed primitives in 3D and adaptively densifying them in under-reconstructed regions. However, this scene-adaptive capacity allocation is largely lost in existing feed-forward 3DGS metho…
